Seasonal Application Efficiency
DWR and the University of California, Davis have developed the California Seasonal Application Efficiency Program to assess how efficiently irrigation water is being applied in California and to identify potential places where further improvements can be made.
The Program is a Microsoft Excel application that estimates seasonal application efficiency for 20 crop categories by Hydrologic Region and county from 2001 through 2010. Estimates of seasonal application efficiency are computed based on 2001 and 2010 Statewide Irrigation Methods Survey data collected by county for 20 crop categories and 16 irrigation methods (e.g., furrow, sprinklers, drip irrigation, etc.) combined with theoretical application efficiency values for different irrigation systems.
