Draft Funding Recommendation Water Desalination Grant Program
The Department of Water Resources’ (DWR) Water Desalination Grant Program has completed reviewing the grant applications submitted through the Continuous Application Process (CAP). This sixth group of applications recommended for funding is referred to as CAP 6. DWR’s Water Desalination Grant Program is recommending that one construction project receive a total of $1 million in funding.
The Continuous Application Process is conducted with the same submittal and review process described in the June 16, 2017 Round 4 Proposal Solicitation Package (PSP) and the May 14, 2024 Continuous Application Process Guidance. To date, DWR has awarded over $81 million in Proposition 1 desalination grants ranging from over $100,000 to $10 million to 22 projects in support of the development and construction of desalination projects in California.
Three applications were received in CAP 6. One application was deemed ineligible because the applicant did not meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the PSP. The remaining two applications were reviewed and scored. The application with the highest score is recommended to receive the remaining $1,000,000 Proposition 1 funding.
DWR will conduct an online public meeting and accept public comments about the draft funding recommendation.
