California Advisory Committee on Geographic Names
The California Advisory Committee on Geographic Names (CACGN) is a Committee under the California Natural Resources Agency with the purpose to provide recommendations to the U.S. Board on Geographic Names regarding California names for official use in federal publications. CACGN also implements Assembly Bill 2022 (Ramos 2022), to review offensive and derogatory names and rename all places and geographic features containing the offensive and derogatory term “sq_.”
